Armando Alvarez hit double digits in wins in his boxing career Sept. 24 when he scored a technical decision over Anthony Dave in Johnson City, Tenn.
Now the super welterweight and Keys native goes for his 11th win against no losses next month, the first chance his South Florida fans will get a chance to see him in action.
Alvarez, 27, is on the 10-bout card on Nov. 11 during what’s called Boxing Storm at the Miami Airport Convention Center, 711 NW 72nd Ave. He’s scheduled to fight an eight-round fight against an opponent to be determined. Tickets are $30 for general admission, $50 for a premium seat, $75 for ringside and $1,800 for a VIP table of 10.
In his 10 fights so far, he’s won six by knockout and has fought a total of 33 rounds. As an amateur, he went 31-4.
Alvarez is a Marathon native, born at Fishermen’s Community Hospital. He attended elementary and middle school in the Middle Keys before moving to Homestead. He then moved to Key West and is now back in Homestead. He works as a loss prevention manager for Kmart.
He goes by the name Armando “The Gentleman” Alvarez and wears pink in the ring to raise awareness of breast cancer. The Nov. 11 fight will be streamed on boxingstorm.com.
