Thus ends another hurricane season.
The six-month season that started June 1 comes to a close today and once again, the Keys were not impacted by tropical cyclones. The only threat was Hurricane Matthew in late September/early October, and while much of the rest of Florida saw widespread flooding and other damage, the Keys barely even saw any rain.
In August, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration put out an updated forecast that called for five to eight hurricanes. The Keys have not been impacted by a hurricane since Wilma in October 2005. That storm caused widespread flooding throughout Monroe County.
