A man wanted on an attempted murder charge in the Keys was arrested in Broward County this week, but posted bond and is free again.
Kemar Ricardo Dennis, 26, is accused of stabbing Roger Harrison, 33, of New York, on Nov. 6 at mile marker 82.8 on the Old Highway at a venue for the annual “Beach Road Trip” Caribbean music event in Islamorada. Harrison had to be flown out of the Keys to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami for a life-threatening stab wound, including a laceration to the his liver.
His current condition was not immediately available on Thursday.
A security guard working the event briefly held the assailant, but he broke free and ran away, Deputy Becky Herrin, public information officer for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, said. Dennis stabbed Harrison during a fight between the two men, Herrin said.
Dennis, who is from Plantation, was arrested in Broward County on Monday. The bond on his arrest warrant filed in Monroe County was $150,000. He posted the bond in Broward and was released.
“He will still have to appear in court when required,” Herrin said.
