Three people died in a Key West house fire that injured several others Thursday night, according to the city’s police department.

The blaze occurred around 7 p.m. at a multi-family housing development at 1010 Emma Street, said Key West police spokesperson Alyson Crean.

The deceased are two adults and a child, Crean told the Herald. Paramedics took three other children to trauma hospitals, Crean added. Their conditions are unknown.

First responders were heard on scanner traffic saying there was a 15-year-old burn patient and CPR being performed on a 5-year-old patient.

A law enforcement source told the Herald that an initial investigation indicates the source of the fire was a space heater.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
