A Marathon man is in the Middle Keys jail on $205,000 bond following his arrest Tuesday for allegedly trying to sexually assault a co-worker.
Liukel Fernandez, 47, allegedly told his colleagues at Walgreens on 109th Street where they work he knew the best places in the store to do so before he reportedly forced himself on a 17-year-old in the store’s fire pump room Sept. 27.
Fernandez was arrested by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies and faces felony counts of sexual assault and kidnapping/false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count of battery.
The charges stem from the September incident, when the 17-year-old girl told Detective Robert Dosh that Fernandez asked her to help him get shelves from the fire pump room. She said once they were inside, Fernandez closed and locked the door and would not let her leave the room.
According to Dosh’s report, the victim said Fernandez unzipped his pants and forcibly placed her hand on his penis and then ordered her to put his penis in her mouth. She told Dosh she was afraid he was going to rape her so she pushed him and managed to escape from the room.
According to Dosh’s investigation, the suspect had been suspended from his job previously for making sexual statements to other employees and the victim. The suspect also made previous comments to employees that indicated he knew where the cameras are in the store and that he knew there were no cameras in the pump room, according to the report.
Fernandez was also arrested in November 2015 for battery.
