The CFPB alleges these entities charged upfront fees in violation of the Telemarketing Sales Rule and used deceptive marketing practices, violating the Consumer Financial Protection Act. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. In 2023, a $2.7M settlement was reached, banning the companies from telemarketing for 10 years.
