Lanes reopen after car crash blocked traffic into Florida Keys, sheriff’s office says

Traffic in and out of the Florida Keys was blocked for almost two hours on Monday because of a multi-car crash on the Jewfish Creek Bridge, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened shortly before noon, causing a miles-long backup along the 18 Mile Stretch of U.S. 1 connecting Florida City on the mainland to Key Largo.

The Sheriff’s Office said three cars were involved. Details about injuries were not immediately available.

The Sheriff’s Office announced at 1:30 p.m. that the crash scene had been cleared.
