Key Largo pedestrian dead after he walked into path of car on U.S. 1

A Key Largo man is dead after he was struck by a car on U.S. 1 at mile marker 101 Wednesday night.

Miguel A. Corona Molina, 43, was walking his bicycle across the northbound lane of the highway and stepped into the path of Dodge, driven by 49-yer-old woman from Quebec, Canada, said Lt. Kathleen McKinney, with the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Canadian woman's 12-year-old daughter was riding in the car.

Molina came to a final stop on the right-hand shoulder of the road. The Canadian woman stopped and waited for police and first-responders to arrive.

Key Largo Volunteer Fire Department firefighters declared Molina dead at the scene, McKinney said.

The FHP closed the northbound lane at mile marker 101 until 3:12 a.m., McKinney said.
