Candidate qualifying for the Marathon City Council began Tuesday at noon and ends next Tuesday at noon. The election is Nov. 3.

Two seats are up, those of Councilman Rich Keating, who is being term-limited out after three two-year terms; and that of Vice Mayor Mark Senmartin, who's was elected two years ago.

In Marathon, elections are at large, meaning that in this one, the two candidates who get the most votes win.

Besides Senmartin, declared candidates are fitness center owner Nick Antonelli, 56; businesswoman Michelle Coldiron, 53; Realtor Trish Hintze, 50; and former Mayor Dick Ramsay, who previously served three terms. He's a retired business owner.

Last November, Marathon voters approved switching council terms from two years to three. Under the longer terms, council members can serve two consecutive terms instead of the current three.
