Crash closes U.S. 1 in Marathon

A two-vehicle crash closed U.S. 1 briefly around 12:30 p.m. Monday in Marathon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Lisa M. McClanahan, 26, of Marathon, collided with the back of a 2016 Dodge SUV driven by Pei-Chung Yang, 54, of Taiwan.

Both vehicles were traveling northbound and just came off the Seven Mile Bridge entering the City of Marathon. McClanahan reportedly felt faint and decided to pull off the highway, said FHP Lt. Kathleen McKinney. But as she did so, she hit the back of Yang’s Dodge, then crossed the southbound lane and the bicycle path, before coming to a complete stop.

There were no injuries reported.
