Video shows hockey mask-wearing man attack Key West strip-club dancer

Security-camera video captures the chilling attack Tuesday night by a hockey mask-wearing, shirtless Tennessee man on a woman who works at a Key West strip club, police said.

The man, 44-year-old Jeffrey Carroll, walked onto the front porch of the VIP Gentlemen’s Club on Duval Street and grabbed the woman after she opened the door, pushed her inside and pulled a pair of scissors from his shorts pocket and cut a lock of her hair, the video shows and police said in their arrest report.

Carroll, who was wearing an orange baseball cap, then ran off, police said. Officers caught up with him a block away at Louisa and Simonton streets. He was arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Cops said they found an amphetamine pill in his pocket when they arrested him.

According to his arrest report, Carroll, a salesman from Columbia, Tennessee, came to the club around 6:20 p.m. and booked a “dance session” with one of the workers. He said he wanted another employee, so the victim came out to dance for him, the report states.

He started some sort of “trouble” that the report does not detail and left the club around 6:45 p.m., according to police.

He returned to the club after 10 p.m., with no shirt and wearing the mask and cap, according to the report. He walked onto the front porch where a woman was standing. Police say he blocked the woman from going back inside.

The victim then opened the door and stuck her head outside, the video shows. Carroll grabbed her by the hair and pushed her inside. The other woman is seen backing up and filming the attack with her cellphone.

A camera from inside the business shows Carroll pull the victim’s head down, remove the scissors from his pocket and cut her hair.

Carroll ran away after cutting the woman’s hair, police say. Officers arrived about five minutes later and interviewed the woman, who was “obviously shaken up and emotional due to what had occurred,” the report states.

The woman told officers that Carroll told her, “I’m gonna take your life,” according to the report. While an officer was interviewing the woman, his colleagues found Carroll at Louisa and Simonton streets.

He was still shirtless, and cops found a pair of scissors near him, but not the mask, according to the report. Officers also found the amphetamine pill in his pocket, the affidavit states. His arrest report says he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The Miami Herald reached out to the VIP Gentlemen’s Club for comments.

Carroll no longer shows up as an inmate in Monroe County jail records. His bond on the aggravated assault charge was set at $45,000, and bond amounts for the other charges were not immediately available. Information on his legal counsel was also not immediately available.
