Local kids embrace recycling

The kids seem enthusiastic about recycling efforts.

Earth Day celebrated its 46th birthday on April 22 and in honor of this day, a group of fourth- and fifth-graders at the Big Pine Academy charter school  were visited by the Bag Monsters, members of Florida Keys Green Living & Energy Education and the Got Your Bags? group.

The group entertained and engaged the students in interactive presentations and games on how to reduce, reuse and recycle and afterward awarded the recycling game winners with Recycling Ranger certificates.

Thanks to Cathy Hoffman, the Big Pine Academy executive director; fourth-grade teacher Tina Sizing; and fifth-grader teacher Kim Thompson for inviting GLEE to the Big Pine Academy.
