Key Largo firefighters help put out vehicle fire on Stretch
A vehicle fire that happened Wednesday afternoon on the 18-Mile Stretch of U.S. 1connecting Key Largo to the mainland is under investigation.
No one was injured and the fire was quickly extinguished by members of the Key Largo Volunteer Fire Department and Miami-Dade County Fire-Rescue, said Capt. David Garrido of the Key Largo department. The van, which was fully engulfed in flames, was on the southbound shoulder of the highway at mile marker 115.
Firefighters responded to the scene about 1:20 p.m., Garrido said.
